The Meridians Of Masunaga's Zen Shiatsu

Shiatsu is a holistic massage therapy practice that is based on the meridian system, a network of energetic points and channels that is used in Traditional Chinese Medicine and acupuncture. It is a deeply relaxing body therapy that uses direct pressure into meridian lines and acupoints.

Shiatsu can be very beneficial for pain management and musculoskeletal dysfunction, but it is exceptional at helping to address more complex, nuanced issues that don't seem to have an easy explanation. This includes chronic illness, chronic pain, moodiness, depression, anxiety, trauma, insomnia, and just feeling off.  Regular shiatsu supports a healthy body, a  emotional life and a re-connection to our authentic self.

What to Expect

Before the session we will chat briefly about your health history, and present condition. The session takes place on a futon mat on the floor, and the receiver is fully clothed in a comfortable, loose, clothing. The session will combine a series of shiatsu techniques such as thumb or palm pressure, rotation of the limbs, and traction the joints.  It is a full body treatment that has unique flow, allowing you to feel a sense of spaciousness, as physical tension unwinds and you sink into a deeply relaxed, healing state. Many people report feeling a sense of wholeness, and a return to an integrated, natural state of being.

What is Shiatsu?
